The Foundation Directors host an annual auction fundraiser during the National Biodiesel Conference and Expo. The goal of the auction is to raise funds to support projects of importance to the biodiesel industry. In 2021, NBF will pursue projects supporting infrastructure expansion, education and research that helps lower our planet's carbon footprint and increase biodiesel (and renewable diesel) use and awareness. Biodiesel is the most diverse fuel on the planet. It’s made from a broad range of feedstocks including soybean oil, animal fats and used cooking oil. Biodiesel’s ability to find new uses for fats and oils makes it an ideal advanced biofuel, reducing GHG emissions between 80 and 100 percent compared to petroleum. It also drives new feedstock research and development. Next-generation feedstocks, like algae, camelina and pennycress, combined with best farming practices have the potential to meet our nation’s energy demands in the future while reducing GHGs to net zero levels.
